Obituary

William Harrell Coleman, beloved son of Waymond Fowler and the late Pearl Evans, was born October 11, 1955, in Sylvester, Georgia.

He was educated in the Worth County School System, graduating from  Worth County High School.  He continued his education at Albany Vocation School (Albany Technical College) in the area of Automotive Service Technology.

At an early age, Harrell surrendered his life to Christ and united with  Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Sylvester, Georgia where he served faithfully as an Usher.  As he continued his walk with Christ, he remained steadfast in his calling as an usher at Ephesus Missionary Baptist Church of Albany.  In later years, he united with the Directly Connected Christian Center in Albany, Georgia under the leadership of Pastor Victor L. Harris.

Believing strongly in loyalty and commitment to his country, Harrell enlisted in the United States Army where he served with distinction.  He was a soldier to the core and the military suited his sense of order as he advanced to the rank of Sargeant. At the close of his 8-year tour of duty, he received an honorable discharge.  Upon returning to civilian life, he joined the ranks of employees at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, working untiringly for more than 30 years.  He was later employed by the Georgia Department of Transportation where he retired after rendering 15 years of loyal and dedicated service.

Harrell was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Rosetta.  Their union was unshakeable and they shared more than 31 years of marital bliss.  Although Harrell devoted his life to his work, he still made time for his family and friends; enjoyed delicious meals prepared by his wife; worked diligently in his yard; and spared no effort in caring for his faithful dog, Spook.  Affectionately known as "Shorty" by close friends and "Harbo" by his grandchildren, Harrell  had a twinkle in his eyes and a heart that opened freely.  Anyone who knew him also knew that he was passionate about cars and good music.

On Saturday, November 7, 2020, Harrell transitioned from this earthly life to be with the Lord.  In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Hattie Mae Miller; and his stepfather, Wilson Evans.

Loving memories will always remain with his beloved wife, Rosetta Coleman; his father, Waymond Fowler; children, Tamekia Coleman Gamble, Latausha Martin, Adam (Katrina) Martin, Loretta Martin, and Charlie Will (Aliyah) Martin, Jr.; siblings, Anthony (Schwan) Evans, Waymond Fowler, Jr., Major Nobles, Michael (Veronica) Fowler, Michelle Tumblin, Vera Terrell, Nettie Wilson, and Georgia (Michael) Johnson; two cousin/sisters, Dorothy Mack and Martha Coleman; 23 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
