IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Russell
Davis, Jr.
April 25, 1932 – June 3, 2021
William Russell Davis, son of the Russell Davis and Lula Bell Morlan Davis, was born in Meigs, Georgia on April 25, 1932. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a very early age.
Russell was a very conscientious individual who gave his best at whatever he did. He firmly believed in working hard for what you want and always being willing to do the right thing. During the early years of his career, he was employed as a construction worker. While this work was challenging and allowed him to develop many valuable industrial skills, his childhood interest in transportation continued to soar; thus, guiding him to his true passion—truck driving. Russell completed the requirements to earn his Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and joined the ranks of truck drivers at Swift Transportation. In later years, he traveled throughout the United States delivering goods and products for Dave Trucking Company. He took pride in his driving skills, always put safety first, and retired after many years of loyal and dedicated service.
Family and friends meant the world to Russell and he delighted in spending quality time with them. He was a kind, generous man who greeted each day with a smile and was always "on call" to help anyone in need. Russell had a big heart for all things and was the best father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend that anyone could ever hope for.
On June 3, 2021, Russell transitioned from this earthly life to eternal rest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Gloria Ann Davis; and two siblings, Fred Davis and Evelyn Holgan.
He leaves fond memories that will forever be cherished by his children, Russell (Anita) Davis of Conyers, GA, Odell (Felecia) Davis of McDonough, GA, Melvin Cooper of Columbus, GA, and Cathy of St. Petersburg, FL; two siblings, Mae Frances Shelley and Clarence Davis of Albany, GA, grandchildren, Russell Davis, Jr., Odell Davis, Jr., and Myles Davis; a devoted friend, John Summerford; one sister-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Russell was also a caring father figure for Willie Kendrick, Wanda Hart, and Richard Kendrick.
