Obituary

William Shawn "Jr. Pete" Johnson was born on July 11, 1966 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Beulah "BJ" Prear and the late Reverend Willie C. Johnson.  Jr. Peter, 53, made his transition from this life on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at his home in Albany, Georgia.  Without looking back to bid us farewell, he crossed into a land that is fairer than day.  He is preceded in death by his parents and a son, the late Ryan Wadley.

His life was deeply rooted in Dougherty County, Albany, Georgia.  He accepted Christ at an early age; and as an adult, he joined Trinity Metropolitan Baptist Church, Albany, Georgia under the leadership of Dr. Joseph Howard, III.  At the time of his death, he was a faithful member of Greater United Pleasant Green Baptist Church, Leesburg, Georgia where he served as an armor bearer for his Pastoral Leader, Dr. Andrew E. McDowell, Jr.  He was very secure and serious about his relationship with God.  Jr. Pete loved the Lord and wanted everyone he came in contact with to know how good the Lord had been to him.  One of his favorite scriptures was John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."  He loved Gospel music, traditional and contemporary.  He also loved the good ole Baptist Devotion with singing hymns and good Preaching!

He was a devoted son, brother, friend, and father to his children who he loved dearly.  The joys and pleasures of his life were his family and friends.  He was always a joy to be around.  Jr. Pete loved to make others laugh.  He was also a big flirt with the ladies! He always had something to say to brighten up their day.

Jr. Pete was in the Monroe High School Class of 1984.  Although he did not participate in any sports, he loved Monroe and always supported anything going on at the school to include financially supporting the Reunions.  He loved to travel; his favorite vacation spot was Las Vegas.  His favorite Basketball Team was the L. A. Lakers; favorite Football Team was the Dallas Cowboys.  He was a connoisseur of seafood, shellfish, mollusks and fine dining.  As a matter of fact, he lived large; he had to have the best cologne, top of the line clothing, shoes, and diamonds were his favorite stone... in other words, he didn't half step!

Being an entrepreneur from the heart, he was CEO and Founder of Roll-over Records, where he produced several local and state artists.  In 2012, he opened Your Way Auto Sales, Albany, Georgia.  Jr. Pete didn't bite his tongue; yes he was blunt but you knew where he stood because he was consistent.  He was outgoing yet private.  Although he was known by many as Jr. Pete, his family and closer friends also called him Jr. P., Jr. Parker, Diamond, and Wally.  All these names carried special meaning as he was such a giant of a man; always reaching out to help lighten the load of others... encouraging and offering advice; being a provider and a protector.

This father, brother, friend, godson, nephew, cousin, neighbor, brother in Christ and so much more will be sorely missed by everyone who came in contact with him.  Some of us will have to purchase an alarm clock since he won't be sending text messages at 6:00 a.m. to wake up with an inspirational message, a sermon he wanted us to listen to or the Chicago Mass Choir singing "God Is My Everything"!

The beautiful legacy of his season is left to his daughters:  Skywanna Chapman, Shycovie Chapman (Anthony), Laneysha Fudge, Rayna Kirkland, and Ki'Mora Price; his sons: Jakobie Owens, Quindathion Stills, Monyea Hayes, and Keeshadrick Williams; his sisters:  Angela (John), Charlene (Wayne), Michiko, Laura, Torsha, Natalie, and Dreka (Delwuan); his brothers: Craig, Maine, Kevin, and Eric; his thirteen grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a devoted friend Erica Haines.
