Obituary

William Earl Scott, born on December 16, 1949 in Leary, GA, was the oldest child of the late Earl Scott and Ruby Dudley Scott. He was affectionately known as "Bill" and "Dollar Bill".

He was always a good student; he attended Anderson Elementary School and H.T Singleton High School, graduating in 1967 with
honors. He was awarded an academic scholarship to attend Albany State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology. Bill enjoyed building and creating structures; therefore, he joined his father in the family business, becoming a master carpenter and electrician. He worked alongside his father as a home, business, and remodeling contractor.

Spiritually, he joined the Eureka Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and served faithfully his entire life. He was a Sunday School Superintendent and served on many committees at Eureka.

He was ordained as a Deacon in September of 1999.

Socially, Bill had an outgoing personality, never met a stranger and had a great sense of humor. He could liven up any situation and
loved playing cards, and "swinging with Dot". Bill was a lovable and pleasant child who enjoyed hanging out with his siblings, cousins, and friends. This continued into adulthood as his favorite past time. He enjoyed reading the Southwest Georgian, The Albany Herald, and the Pittsburg Courier. He was a big fan of all sports and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Bill also had fond memories of playing baseball with the Mighty Leary Kings.

On Sunday, December 3, 2023, Bill transitioned to eternal rest with the Lord. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his
wife, Dorothy A. Scott; and two brothers Anthony Scott and Melvin Scott.

He is survived by his daughter: Sherita Campbell (Benjamin), and two bonus daughters whom he lovingly helped to raise: Tanya Perry and Carla Hayes. Lasting memories will be treasured by his siblings, Debra Scott Engram (the late Roy Engram), Cathy Scott -Jackson (Jeffery), Rose Scott -Carter (Samuel), and Vivian (Ronnie) Dubose, Leonard Scott, Jerry Scott, and Mack Scott (Sherrilyn); grandchildren, Jaylen White, Jayda Martin, Nia Perry, Benjamin Bridges, and Nicholas Perry; a great grandson whom he adored, Myles. He is also survived by his aunts, Mary Oliver, Barbara Dudley, and Grace Dudley; sisters-in-law, Annie Hawkins (William) and Geneva Scott (the late Anthony Scott); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, classmates, and friends.
