Obituary

William Frank Walker, the youngest son of the late Louis Walker and Georgia Mae Mathis Walker, was born in Albany, Georgia on November 3, 1954.

He was educated in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Dougherty Comprehensive High School. Frank loved sports and was an outstanding football player with the Dougherty High Trojans. In later years, he continued his education at Albany State College where he excelled as a member of the Golden Rams football team.

At an early age, Frank accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and united with the St. Stevens Baptist Church. For numerous years, he was a devoted member and served faithfully in the Sunday School.

After receiving the call to military duty in 1973, Frank enlisted in the United States Army where he became a "soldier to the core." The military suited his sense of order and his code of loyalty. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Army never left him, as friends and family can attest. At the close of his three-year tour of duty, he was honorably discharged and returned home to civilian life.

Frank was a very conscientious, hardworking individual who gave his best at whatever he did. For over 30 years, he labored untiringly in the Emergency Center of Palmyra Park Hospital. Frank believed strongly in working hard for what you want, being willing to do the right thing, and making sure that no task was left undone. Not only did he take pride in his work, but he truly relished the friends that he made during his employment.

"Sole" as he was affectionately called by many, was a mild-mannered, good-hearted individual. He had an endless reservoir of love for family and friends, and he truly enjoyed spending time with them. He laughed often, felt unbridled happiness, and loved unconditionally. One of his finest qualities was gratitude. Even in the midst of declining health, he was always grateful for every good thing that came his way. Oftentimes, Frank could be found enjoying the beauty of nature—sitting at a pond fishing. He was a loving brother, a caring uncle, a cherished cousin, and an unforgettable friend who touched the lives of people around him in a very special way. He will be missed all who dearly loved him.

On Monday, January 14, 2019, Frank's earthly journey ended as he entered into eternal rest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Ruby M. Goodman and Louis Walker, Jr.

He leaves fond memories to be cherished by his siblings, Hilda Whearry, Raymond (Mary Alice) Walker, Gloria (Leo) Cauley, Norma G. Walker, and Linda Walker all of Albany, GA; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; a good friend, Ricky Taylor; and a host of other friends and extended family.
