Obituary

William Henry Zackery, affectionately known as "Bill" and "Trouble Shooter," was born on October 3, 1951, to the late Rufus and Lizzie Ruth Zackery, who raised him with love, strength, and unwavering faith.  He departed this life on October 19, 2024.

At an early age, William accepted Christ as his personal Savior, embracing a life guided by faith and service to others. He became a devoted member of Evangelical Faith Vision Ministries, Inc., where his faith journey flourished, and he found a spiritual home. Throughout his life, he carried this deep connection to God, reflecting his steadfast devotion to his family, friends, and community.

William attended Monroe Comprehensive High School, where he formed lifelong friendships and developed a passion for learning. After completing his education, he began a long and industrious career, retiring from Firestone Tire and Rubber. His skill and love for working with his hands led him to pursue his calling as an auto mechanic, eventually becoming a successful business owner. Known for his meticulous craftsmanship and dedication to helping others, William's shop became a trusted place in the community, and he earned the fitting nickname, "Trouble Shooter," for his ability to fix any problem with skill and care.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, William enjoyed life's simpler pleasures. He was an avid bowler, a fisherman who loved the tranquility of the water, and a traveler who relished exploring new places. He also had a passion for games, whether it was competing with family and friends or simply enjoying moments of laughter and camaraderie.

Perhaps the most cherished role William held in life was that of husband, father, and "Poppa Bill." He was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Pamela Jordan Zackery, on September 11, 1995. Together, they built a life filled with love, devotion, and mutual respect.

William was a constant source of guidance, support, and unconditional love to his children:  Kaylynn Zackery, Adrian Zackery, Corey Price, Tina (Brian) Wingfield, Stephanie (Eric) Sibley, Terron (Connie) Hayes, and his two sons Stacy Zackery and Dexter Zackery who preceded him in death. His influence will forever be imprinted on their hearts, as they carry on his legacy of love, strength, and compassion. He was a proud and devoted grandfather, leaving behind a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members, all of whom adored him.

William's love extended beyond his immediate family to his siblings and in-laws. He leaves behind his devoted brothers and sisters: Charles (Lillie) Zackery, Mark (Jackie) Zackery, Bonnie (Willie) Zackery, and Mary Jane Zackery. Preceding him in death were his brothers Jerome Zackery, John (Pinky) Zackery, Rufus (Barbara) Zackery, and Niko (Jackie) Zackery, as well as his brother-in-law, Brian (Kamala) Jordan. He will also be dearly missed by his extended family of in-laws, including Lynn (Bernard) Brown, Vickie (Quincy).
