Obituary

It was a joyous day when God graced us with Willie Tom "Booster" Bryant.  He was born in Cuthbert, Randolph County, Georgia to Albert Dean Bryant and Byrdie B. Bryant.  He was the third of four children.  His loving brothers were Eugene Armstrong, Albert "Meat" Bryant, Jr. (Hazel), and Elgin "Seddie" Bryant (Martha).

Booster Bryant confessed Christ at a young age and was baptized to attest his faith.  He attended Rocky Bottom Baptist Church in Randolph County.

During his early years, he developed a determination to rise above the "plantation mentality".  He worked hard at a number of jobs to position himself for success.  He stocked grocery shelves, drove a truck for Rio and Timberlake Trucking, and assembled tractor parts for Gravely Tractor.  He was also among the first to be hired at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company when it opened in 1968 in Albany, Georgia.

Although he only had a sixth grade education, Mr. Bryant knew he was more than capable of being an entrepreneur and business owner.  He started his own transportation and trucking company using his own truck cabs to haul loads from the Northeast, down to Florida and into Texas.  He retired from Firestone after nearly 20 years and his entrepreneurial spirit revved up again, so he created his own landscaping business called Bryant and Bryant.

He was known for his friendly, smooth demeanor.  He took pride in his personal presentation and embraced dressing in a "dapper style."  Purposely keeping his signature white hair in pristine condition earned him the nickname "Snow."

Mr. Bryant also made sure he enjoyed life.  During one visit to a church in Edison, Georgia he spotted a beautiful young lady, Alice Idlett, singing in the choir who he hoped to meet.  After awhile, the two were married and settled in Edison, Georgia for a brief time and started a family.  To this union, six children were born: Carolyn (Warrie), Marie, Deborah (Dave), Saundra, Darin and Vicki (Ricardo).

Mr. Bryant displayed a deep love for his family.  His other passion in life was recreational fishing.  You could find him out on the water nearly every week with a fishing rod and reel in-hand.

Willie Tom Bryant crossed over into glory Sunday morning September 1, 2019.  Family and friends surely cherish this father, husband, grandfather, uncle, brother and son.  We will rejoice when we see him again!
