Obituary

Willie Charles Chester "Cee", beloved son of the late Bernice Thomas and David Ransom, was born in Arlington, Georgia on December 30, 1947.

He was educated in the public schools of Calhoun County, including Arlington Vocational High School.  Willie developed a passion for brick masonry very early in life, and gained valuable industrial skills in school that aided him in his future career.

A man of great faith and belief in Christ Jesus, Willie was a dedicated member of Christ Harvest Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully as an Usher.  When standing at the doors of the church, there was always a smile on his face as he greeted members and visitors entering into the worship service.  Psalm 84:10 guided his ministry, "I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness."

Willie had an exceptionally successful and fulfilling career as a self-employed brick mason.  Over the years, he poured himself into his work and took great pride in his craftsmanship.   He made lasting friendships during his career and was highly respected by his colleagues for his skills and unmatched work ethics.

Often described as a man with an innate ability to connect with people from all walks of life, Willie treated everyone with kindness and respect.  He listened without judgement, provided a safe space for others to share, and always stood ready to lend a helping hand.  Family and friends meant the world to him and he cherished the time spent with them—making every gathering memorable with his witty sense of humor.  He will long be remembered for his warm heart, empathy, and genuine understanding.

On October 9, 2023, Willie  transitioned from this earthly life to eternal peace and rest.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Andrew Thomas.

Cherished memories will forever remain with his children, Wanda Blackshear, Antonio Green, Umeka Moore-Starling (Joe), Cauntae Timely, Jarrell Chester, and Armisha Griffin-Atkins (Kendrick); bonus children, Eric Timely (Pauline), Tracy Timely, Ravii Givens (Whitney), and Marcus Givens; siblings, Nadine Molden, Eddie Molden, Willie Chester (Janice, Charles Thomas (JoAnn), Prophetess Trilene Barber (Bishop Robert), Clifford Thomas, Cynthia Johnson, Andrea Davis (Major), and Sabrina Winkfield (Larry); bonus sister, Diane Moore; grandchildren, Shakoya, Nekia, Branna (Isaac), Xavier, Ikeisha (Wilson), Antonio Jr., Jaquan, Antinique, Antonio III Duntrez, Darrell Jr., Raquez, Raquel, Ar'Montae, Princeston, Knowledge, and Ja'Rylee; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
