IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Willie James
Hammond
January 9, 1954 – October 10, 2021
Willie James Hammond was born in Calhoun County, Georgia on January 9, 1954, to the late Henry and Johnnie Mae Hammond. He was the fourth of seven children.
During the early years of his life, he was educated in the public schools of Duval County, Florida. While in school, he acquired numerous industrial skills which charted the course for his future career.
James, as he was called by family and friends, was a very ambitious individual who gave his best at everything he did. He was a hardworking, dedicated employee of Helena Chemicals and received numerous accolades for outstanding service upon his retirement. Not only did James possess industrial skills, he also had a great love and passion for mechanics and car repairs. Anything with a motor was a welcomed challenge to him.
A quiet, mild-mannered man, James dearly loved his family; treasured his friends; and was always on call to help anyone in need. He had a big heart for all things in life and greatly impacted the lives of everyone around him. He was a loving father, devoted brother, caring nephew, nurturing uncle, committed cousin, and loyal friend who will be deeply missed.
On Sunday, October 10, 2021, Willie James was called home to rest in perfect peace. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Johnny Will Hammond, Henry Hammond, Jr., and Charlie Barnes.
