IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Willie Melvin
Hill
February 6, 1953 – May 15, 2017
Willie "Melvin" Hill, son of the late Willie and Catherine Hill, was born on February 6, 1953, in Albany, Georgia.
During the early years of his life, he attended the public schools of Dougherty County and was active in numerous school activities and functions.
As a youth, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and united with the Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend James E. Grant.
Melvin had many passions in his life and was always busy pursuing them. He was an incredibly skilled, self-employed carpenter who diligently utilized his talents in the construction industry for many years. Melvin also wore many other hats in his life. He was a uniquely creative band member and a solo musician in Chicago, Illinois and Cleveland, Ohio; and a DJ in Kansas City, Missouri. Many lives were enriched by him and he had a wonderful way of putting people at ease. If he could make you laugh or make your day a little better in any way, he would feel he had done something worthwhile.
On Monday, May 15, 2017, Melvin's journey came to a peaceful end. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Brenda Joyce Hill Luke, Mable Hill, James Calvin Hill, and Willie Mae Terrell-Price.
He leaves to mourn his passing and celebrate his memory a loving and devoted wife, Lillie Hill of Edison, GA; his beloved children, Aristola Devincent Hill and Cynthia Hill of Albany, GA, Shemeka Brown and Quason Jackson of Edison, GA, and Michael (Renee) Jackson and Arneka Franklin of Atlanta, GA; two siblings, Diane "Jackie" Hill and Napoleon (Sarah) Harris of Albany, GA; a special granddaughter, Lashonda Hill of Albany, GA; a special nieces, Yolanda Hill of Albany, GA; grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
