Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Willie Charles Jones Jr., affectionately known as "Dr. Zeke", a beloved Father, Grandfather, and cherished member of our community.

Willie passed  away peacefully on July 23,2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on June 26,1943,tothe late Willie Charles Jones Sr. and Lucille Jones, Willie grew up in Albany, Georgia, and attended Dougherty County School System, where he cultivated a lifelong passion for mechanics. Following in the foot steps of his father, who was also a mechanic, Willie became one of the most respected and successful mechanics in our town. For over 65 years, he owned and operated Jones Auto Repair, a business that was not only a testament tohis expertise but also a pillar of our community.

Willie's backyard shop was more than just a place of business; it was a gathering spot where friends and neighbors would come for advice, a chat, or just to see his warm smile. Willie's work ethic and attention to detail were legendary, setting a high standard that inspired all who knew him in the mechanics industry. Willie was also employed with the Dougherty County Board of Education for over 30 years.

Willie accepted Christ into his life at an early age and was a dedicated member of New Birth Fellowship Church until his demise. He served his church faithfully as an Usher and assisted with valet services.

Beyond his professional life, Willie was a devoted family man. He was a loving husband to his wife, Ernestine Jones, for over 30 years and a proud father to his sixteen children. He was preceded in death by his three sons Bobby Lee Smith Sr., Willie James Jones and Curtis Leroy Jones; and his daughter Linda Jordan. He is survived by his sons James Jordan, Willie Charles Jones III, Marion Jordan, and Michael Jordan; and his daughters Andrea Jones, Daphane Jordan (Femi),Tanzineeka Jones, Tehenesia
Bass (Eric), Monica Peterson, Perscilla Peterson, Monica McPherson (Robert) and Carla Hodge (Brendan). He was also a doting grandfather to his grandchildren Jaleesia Jordan, the late Jevontay Jordan, Tameerya Hooks-Dixon (Mike), Tevarris Hooks, Kamari Ware, Cayson Jones, Kandence Peterson, Rhonda Jackson, Doretha Frazier, Roger Jones, Cedric Wingfield, Jamika Williams, Melvin Self, Ashley McKenney, Lecory Walker Jr., Deandre Peterson, Malakai Duncan, Myrica Duncan, Larkeyshia Jones, Moneashia Jones, Curenashia Jones, Bobby Lee Smith Jr., Anthony Smith, and the late Dontae Wingfield. He was also blessed with many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren who brought him immense joy and filled his life with love. Willie's family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He always had a story to tell, whether it was about one of his co-workers or a friend from his neighborhood, and his tales brought laughter and warmth to all who listened.
Willie also leaves behind his longtime co-worker and best friend, Rev. James Wedges. They shared a deep bond over their love for God, strengthening each other's faith and spirits.

In addition to his professional life, Willie had a wide range of interests and hobbies. He enjoyed listening to all genres of music, which brought joy and comfort to his life. He was an avid fan of motorcycle races and often visited the race track to watch the thrilling events. He even owned a motorcycle himself, a symbol of his adventurous spirit. Sundays were special for Willie as he loved going to the flea market to socialize and connect with others.

Willie loved fishing, a passion he shared with his family. Many cherished memories were made on the water casting lines and enjoying each other's company. These family fishing trips were a testament to the close bond he maintained with his loved ones.

Willie's impact on our community extended far beyond his mechanical skills. He was a mentor to many young mechanics, always eager to share his knowledge and encourage others to follow their dreams.

His willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need made him a true pillar of our town.

As we mourn the loss of Willie, we also celebrate his life and the many ways he touched our hearts. His legacy will live on through the stories we share, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely.

He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest in peace, Willie Charles Jones Jr. our beloved "Dr. Zeke". Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
