Life's journey for Willie Tumblin Lee began in Dougherty County, Georgia on October 2, 1927. She was the beloved daughter of the late Will Tumblin and Eva Austin.
She received her formal education in the public schools of Dougherty County.
Growing up in a loving home where the Lord was revered, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very early age and united with the First Kiokee Baptist Church of Sasser, Georgia. She was a strong woman of prayer and faith, and the joy of the Lord was her strength. Through the years, she remined steadfast in her Christian walk and served faithfully in numerous church ministries until her health declined.
On December 23, 1946, she was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Sonny "Lot" Lee. Their union endured for 62 years as they honored their vows to love and cherish each other. As a loving wife, devoted mother, and meticulous homemaker, she was unwavering in her dedication to foster a home filled with love, joy, and strong values. Through the years, she was a wife of noble character and a mother whose children called her blessed.
"Ms. Willie and Mother Lee" as she was affectionately called, was a a lady of great humility, integrity, and unparalleled kindness who always had a ready smile and a helping hand. She was a loving and compassionate woman of God whose love for Christ was demonstrated in the way she loved her family, friends, and even stranger. She loved people and she touched so many lives during her time here on earth.
On Tuesday, November 5 , 2019, life's journey ended for Mother Lee as she answered the Master's call to eternal rest. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sonny Lee; and five siblings, Mary Polite, Annie King, Ophelia Blakely, Joe Mango, and Sport.
Loving memories will forever be cherished by her children, Mattie (Rev. Esau) Green, Willie Mae Brown, Willie Sonny Lee, and Tommy (Gwendolyn) Lee all of Albany, GA, and Annie Ruth Lee of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Julia Goines of Albany, GA; 19 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 22 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.
