IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Willie D.
Mosely
March 23, 1946 – June 19, 2017
A Time To Be Born: Willie Dean Mosely, son of the late Mann and Mary Mosely, was born in Terrell County, Georgia on March 23, 1946.
A Time To Learn: As he sprouted and grew, he attended the public schools of Dougherty County, graduating from Monroe High School in 1965.
A Time To Worship: Throughout his childhood, Willie was nurtured in the word of God. As a youth, he began his journey with the Lord at Jordan Grove Baptist Church, Leesburg, Georgia where he served faithfully as a Deacon and Assistant Chairman of the Deacon Board, Male Chorus President, and Sunday School Member. Deacon Mosely was a man who was strong in faith, in character, and in wisdom. He was a vessel whose faith in God never wavered and who loved his church dearly.
A Time To Serve: Upon receiving the "call for military duty," Willie enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served courageously in the Vietnam Conflict and received numerous commendations for his bravery and valor. At the close of his tours of duty, he received an honorable discharge and returned home to civilian life.
A Time To Love: On August 11, 1979, believing that marriage was ordained by God, he was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Gloria Jean Hill.—a union that endured for 37 years. Through this union, he became a loving and devoted father of one daughter, Erica, who was his pride and joy. Deacon Mosely's commitment to his family was the cornerstone of who he was.
A Time To Work: Deacon Mosely wore many hats during his professional career. He was an incredibly skilled, self –employed painter who diligently utilized his talent in the construction industry for many years. His career was also marked by several other ventures, including employment with Gill Barron, Gill's Appliance, and the Marine Corps Logistics Base. During his leisure time, Deacon Mosely ate not the bread of idleness. As an avid cook, he could always be found cooking fish for his family and friends, or frying turkey for Thanksgiving and other special events.
A Time To Embrace: Devoted husband, loving father, unfailing brother, caring uncle, and loyal friend—Deacon Mosely embraced life with open arms. He had a big heart and a kind and generous spirit. His friendliness and kindness to all people, his commitment to his church and community, and his devotion and love for his family and friends are lasting tributes to the beauty of his heart and soul. His presence will deeply be missed by all who had the privilege to have known him.
A Time to Rest: On Monday, June 19, 2017, God saw fit to bring Deacon Mosely's earthly journey to a close and transitioned him to eternal rest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight siblings, Isaac Mosely, Robert Mosely, Richard Mosely, James Mosely, Clifford Mosely, Cena Mathis, Azzie Mosely, and Molly Mosely.
A Time To Cherish: Loving memories will forever be cherished by his beloved wife, Gloria Jean Mosely; his loving daughter, Erica Dionne Mosely of Douglasville, GA; five sisters, Lizzie Paige, Mattie (Ernest) Wright, Marie King, Cindy Bardge, and Emma (Frank) Sanders; mother-in-law, Catherine Watson; sister-in-law, Nettie Mosely of Orlando, FL; and a myriad of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, friends, and neighbors.
"I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith; henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not me only, but to all that love his appearing." II Timothy 4:6-8
