Obituary

The season of life for Willie Rogers Ward began in Albany, Georgia on July 22, 1946.  He was the beloved son of the late Richard Ward, Sr. and Josephine Butler Ward.

He received his formal education in the Dougherty County School System, including Monroe High School.

At an early age, he accepted Christ as his personal savior and united with Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.

Willie was a very conscientious, hardworking individual who gave his best at whatever he did.  He was an incredibly skilled dry wall finisher whose craftsmanship was put to task in the construction industry for innumerable years.  His expertise and professional ethics were second to none, and he worked tirelessly to ensure that no task was left undone.

"Ward" as he was affectionately called, was a very outgoing person who garnered much from his life experiences.  When he wasn't working, he could be found with family and friends.  Ward had an adventurous heart, a contagious laugh, and a beautiful smile  that brought life and vibrancy to everyone around him.  He was a friend you could depend on and he was always ready to lend a helping hand wherever needed.  To know him was to love and respect him.  He will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of being a part of his life.

On July 5, 2019, Almighty God in His wise way removed from this life the soul of our beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Willie Rogers Ward.  In addition to his father, he was predeceased by four siblings, Cornell Butler, James Spry, Mary D. Williams, and Patricia Ward Albritton.

Although absent from the body, he will forever be present in the hearts of his wife, Willie Kate Ward; his mother, Josephine Butler Ward of Albany, GA; two children, Willie Rogers (Angie) Ward, Jr. of Honolulu, Hawaii and Reginald Lorenzo (Paula) Ward of Albany, GA; grandchildren, Reginalia Ward and Brittany Williams of Albany, GA, Teneisheeia Ward of Tallahassee, FL, and Gennetrius Harris and Kimmetrius Harris of Orlando, FL; siblings, Gwendolyn Ward, Jackie Warren, Richard Ward III, Alonzo Ward, and Dewayne (Detrice) Cheatham all of Albany, GA; uncle and aunts, Willie C. Ward, Leola Moten, and Claudia Little of Albany, GA; a loving and caring friend, Elaine Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
