IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Willie Lee
Span
February 5, 1957 – January 14, 2021
Willie Lee Span, beloved son of Deacon David Span and the late Alma Span, was born in Sylvester, Georgia on February 5, 1957.
He received his formal education in the Worth County School System, graduating from Worth County High School.
Very early in life, Willie accepted Christ as his personal Savior and united with Zion Grove Baptist Church. He was a faithful servant of the Lord and willingly served wherever needed.
Willie was a very conscientious, hardworking individual who gave his best at whatever he did. He began his employment years at Coats and Clark of Albany where he touched the hearts and minds of countless co-workers. In later years, he joined the ranks of employees at Miller Brewing Company (MillerCoors); was a loyal, dedicated employee; and retired after rendering 34 years of unmatched service.
Loving son, devoted father and grandfather, caring brother and uncle, loyal cousin and friend, Willie treasured his family and friends. He had a big heart for all things in life and was always "on call" to help anyone in need. His warm, magnetic personality was one of his most outstanding traits and he never met a stranger. Oftentimes, he could be found outside enjoying nature and spending time with his granddaughters who held the key to his heart. He will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of being a part of his life.
On January 14, 2021, Willie was called home to be with the Lord. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his sister, Denise Span.
Although absent from the body, he will forever be present in the hearts of his loving and devoted daughter, Kadisha (Antwon) Shead; his father, Deacon David Span; beloved granddaughters, Mariah, Maliya, and Myani Shead; siblings, Mamie (Eric) Bernard, Barbara (Reverend Samual) Gaines, David (Willie Mae) Span, Johnny (Tanesha) Span, Larry Span, Terry (Barbara) Span, Freddie Span, and Robert Span; two very special cousins, C. J. Span and Dennis Hall; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, MillerCoors co-workers, WCHS classmates of 1975, extended family, and friends.
