Obituary

Willie Lee Sumbry was born November 27, 1956, in Cordele, Georgia.  He was the second son of the late Milton Lee and Emma Lean Sumbry.

He was educated in the Dougherty County School System where he actively participated in various school organizations, activities, and events.  At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and remained prayerful throughout life's journey.

Willie was a very conscientious individual who worked untiringly to provide for his family.  He was employed for numerous years as a supervisor with the Artisian Construction Company.  Over the years, he lead by example and his work crew trusted his judgment and   respected his leadership. His professional ethics and expertise in the field were second t o none and he was relentless in ensuring that no task was ever left undone. .

Devoted husband, loving father, unfailing brother, caring uncle, committed cousin, and loyal friend, Willie embraced life with open arms.  He had a big heart, a kind and generous spirit, and was always willing to help others.  His gigantic smile, engaging personality, and encouraging words touched the lives of people around him in a very special way.  Family was paramount and he never missed an opportunity to be a part of fun-filled gatherings that brought them together in love and harmony.  His generosity and kind spirit will always be remembered by all who loved him dearly.

On May 26, 2021, Willie answered the Master's call to eternal peace and rest.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two siblings, Milton Lee Sumbry, Jr. and Irish Sumbry.
