A Time To Be Born: Willie B. "Pete" West, Sr. was born in Lee County, Georgia on May 24, 1940. He was the beloved son of the late Conice and Ruthe Lee Porter West.
A Time To Learn: During the early years of his life, he received his formal education in the Lee County School System.
A Time To Worship and Serve: Throughout his childhood, Pete was nurtured in the Word of God. As a youth, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and united with the Jordan Grove Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of the late Reverend E. J. Menefee. He later united with Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the guidance and leadership of Reverend Sterlie Calhoun, Jr. He dearly loved the Lord and the fellowship with his Christian sisters and brothers.
A Time To Unite and Nurture: On May 20, 1962, Pete married Annie Lena Barthel who preceded in him death. In later years, he married Bobbie T. Richardson who also preceded him in death. After the passing of his wife, he became a single parent. He raised his two young sons to be respectful and humble, to love one another, and to love and trust in the Lord. He had a great love for family and was also a loving, caring "father figure" for his younger sisters.
A Time To Labor: Pete was employed by the Carlton Company in Lee County for over forty years. He was a loyal and dedicated employee who worked tirelessly to ensure that no task was left undone. He later relocated to Titusville, Florida where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for several years. No matter what the task, he always took great pride in his work.
