Obituary

Wilson Roberts, beloved son of the late Jerry and Tommie Roberts, was born in Webster County, Georgia on January 12, 1939. During the early years of his life, he attended school in Webster County.

From a very young age, Wilson was nurtured in the Word of God. As a youth, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and united with the Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Kimbley, Georgia under the leadership of Reverend A. C. Kelley.

"Whissa or Whistle" as he was fondly known throughout East Albany, lived a full and enjoyable life and was well-regarded and respected by many. To know him was to truly love him. He had a special way of getting to know people and becoming a part of their lives. He was a down-to-earth, humble man who was a source of encouragement to everyone he met. His friendliness and kindness to all people, his willingness to lend a helping hand, his love for his community, and his devotion to his family and friends are lasting tributes to the beauty of his heart and soul. He laughed often, felt unbridled happiness, and loved unconditionally. One of his finest qualities was gratitude. Even in the midst of life's ups and downs, he was always grateful for every good thing that came his way.

Wilson wore many hats in his lifetime. He was an incredible brother, a loving uncle, a devoted cousin, and an unforgettable friend. Over the years, he enjoyed spending time with his family, browsing at the flea market, watching television, visiting neighbors, or just relaxing in the sun with his friends at Lawrence Roberts Service Station before it closed and Street's Tire and Wrecker Service. Wilson was very committed to fitness and made exercise a part of his daily routine. After donning his starch-pressed overalls and cap, he could always be seen walking all around the community—especially on Clark and Blaylock .

On Saturday, March 24, 2018, Wilson's life journey ended and he transitioned to eternal rest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Otis Roberts.

Fond memories will forever remain in the hearts of his siblings, Rubye Roberts, Geraldine Roberts, Gene Roberts, and Nathaniel (Eloise) Roberts all of Albany, GA, and Jerry (Mary) Roberts of Los Angeles, CA; a devoted niece and nephew, Tundra Roberts and Toronto Roberts; sister-in-law, Mary Roberts of Atlanta, GA; special friends and neighbors, Duke (Rose) Fowler; nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins and friends.
